Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating a child. Our Lady of the Assumption School relies on the generosity of parents and benefactors to make up the difference, and provide all the extras that the school prides itself on. Funds raised during annual events make it possible to continue school programs within a faith filled environment.The Assumption Parent Association has as their primary mission raising funds for the school. All Our Lady of the Assumption School families are expected to support school fundraisers by donations, attendance and work at the events. Each year, the APA Board leads and directs three major fundraisers. These are:
FALL FESTIVAL
This one-day annual event is traditionally held in October on the school grounds. All school families must sell raffle tickets to support the event. Baked goods and several hours of work in one of the booths is also required. School families, parish families, guests and friends join together to enjoy a family day of fun, great entertainment and delicious food. Favorite features include a tri-tip barbeque, farmers’ market, homemade burritos, drinks, cake walk, game booths, “jail”, dunk tank, student entertainment by every grade, great music, jolly jumps, and fun for all. The October date provides a good opportunity to meet new OLA school and parish families.
DINNER AUCTION
This popular event is usually held at a local hotel in the Spring. Recent Dinner Auctions have been extremely successful, raising funds for school technology, library books and textbooks. All families are asked to sell raffle tickets, donate at least one item for the auction, and support the event by attending. The exciting Live Auction is always the highlight of the evening, with spirited bidding on vacation condos, dinners, collectibles, as well as items like First Row Seating at Graduation, Dinner with the Pastor, and Principal For A Day.
MONSGIGNOR MULCAHY GOLF TOURNAMENT
In its third year, the Mulcahy Golf Tournament is named for the beloved former pastor at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Monsignor Donal Mulcahy. Attracting alumni, school parents, parishioners and friends, golfers of all skill levels join Monsignor in a day of fun, capped off by a dinner and a raffle. This event is usually held in the Spring at one of the local golf courses.
