Our Lady of the Assumption

News Notes for March 27, 2018

EASTER RECESS – will begin this Thursday with a Noon Dismissal. There is no school on Good Friday. Our school break extends through next week, and we will return to school on Monday, April 9. Please note that the parish/school parking lot will be reslurried and striped on Wed-Fri, April 4 – 6 during our break, so there will be no activities at school at all.

LENTEN JOURNEY – We are now in HOLY WEEK, leading to our celebration of Easter. It is our hope that every family adds Holy Week services to your family’s celebration of the season. The Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper begins at 7 PM and includes a procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose, commemorating Jesus in the tomb. Students who made their First Holy Communion last year or who will make it this year are invited to wear their First Communion clothes and lead this procession from church. On Good Friday, Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday is at 5:30 and 7:15 PM. On Saturday, Easter Vigil begins at 7:30 PM with the lighting of the new fire. Easter Sunday masses will be at 8 AM, 9:30 AM (children’s mass in Mulcahy Center), 11 AM, 12:30 PM (Spanish) and 5:15 PM. Consult the OLA Parish app or parish website (there is a link from ours) for all the details.

CHANCE TO PURCHASE PERSONALIZED ITEMS ON SCHOOL PLAZA – We invite all school families and alumni to consider a donation to the new plaza at the front of the school. Information and naming opportunities went home a few weeks ago. This beautiful space has added safety and beauty to the school entrance, and provides space for prayer, instruction and gathering for social events. There are opportunities for donating to this project, including numerous opportunities to give, from pavers to fencing and entrances. This is a chance to invest in the school and have your family and childrens’ names on pavers to always be at the school. Please consider a gift in memory of a relative, school graduate or grandparent.

PARKING LOT DISMISSAL REMINDERS:

  1. Please continue to use your visor tag. These are so helpful to us when we are trying to quickly identify your car and get your child’s name called, even more so on a rainy day. If you need an additional tag we would be glad to provide one for you.
  2. Parents and grandparents who walk up to the gate to pick up your child after school are asked to please wait until your child’s teacher brings the class out to the plaza. We have asked those waiting to please line up in order to keep the dismissal orderly and safe for our students.
  3. On rainy days, students are dismissed by name from their classroom. The parent line forms under the eaves of the school building, and staff valets assist with the carline.
