PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN – All schools and religious ed programs in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are required to provide predator safety/prevention of sex-abuse lessons to children. The program we use is called “Touching Safety”, provided to us by Virtus. Mrs. Groff is the instructor for the lessons, which will be done in each classroom during the month of March. In today’s envelope, a Parent Guide and permission slip is going home to each family. Mrs. Groff will offer an information night for parents on Thursday, March 1 at 7 PM in Classroom 8. Parents can view the materials, ask questions, and see the exact lesson that will be taught. There are Opt-Out forms in the office for parents who do not wish to have their child present at the classroom lesson. More information is available at www.virtus.org.
MOTHER-SON KICKBALL EVENT: Plan to join us for the Mother-Son Kickball event. Moms and sons “compete” in a fun, casual Sunday afternoon gathering. It will be Sunday, March 4 from 1 – 3 PM on the OLA playground. For more information, contact Dianne Zoll at 642-3379 or Heidiann Cobos at 907-1892.
FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE – Our annual Father-Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, March 3 from 6-9 PM in Assumption Hall. More information will be coming soon.
OLA TECH TEAM – Attention parents… we are assembling a Tech Committee to help us move forward with technology for our students. We are looking for parents and parishioners who have tech expertise to be a part. A goal will be to develop an OLA 5-year Technology Plan and put it into action. We will assess where we are now, set plans for the future and plan funding to get there. We plan to have our first meeting later this month. If you are interested in being a part of the team, please email Pat at pgroff@olaventura.org.
HELP NEEDED – We need your assistance with lunchtime supervision every day. It’s easy to do and fun, AND it earns you a Parent Hour. Haven’t helped us before? Just be here by 12 Noon any day, sign in as a visitor, and join us back in the lunch area.
SPORTS NEWS: The game and practice schedules for the basketball teams are posted on the bulletin board in the school hallway.
