LIVING STATIONS – Today, March 28, our Middle School students will present two performances of the Living Stations of the Cross at 1 PM and 6:30 PM in Mulcahy Center. With expressive movement, words, dramatic lighting and music, our students will tell the story of Jesus’ Passion. Every middle school student is a part of this beautiful production. Directed by Ms. Andrea Rooney and OLA’s Charlie Kim, the students have learned songs, staging and drama. The younger grades will attend the 1 PM, and parents are also welcome. The 6:30 PM performance is especially for middle school families and friends, so we hope to see you all there. Middle School students should be here tonight no later than 6 PM.
2017 OLA YEARBOOKS – Please return the pre-order form no later than April 6.
Both hard cover and soft cover options are available. It is important to take advantage of this pre-order if you wish your child to have a yearbook. Once the books are shipped to us (late May) we will have very few extra books to sell.
8TH GRADE BABY PICTURES – for the yearbook must be in by this Friday, March 31.
Yearbook Ads – Parents and grandparents have a special opportunity to purchase a business ad or personal message to be placed in our 2017 yearbook. These MUST be in by March 31 due to our yearbook printing deadline! Use the flyer sent home a couple weeks ago.
LENTEN JOURNEY – We continue our journey as we enter the fourth week of Lent, focusing on keeping our Lenten promises. Lenten Soup Suppers (every week delicious meatless choices) followed by Stations of the Cross on Fridays are ways to enrich your family’s Lenten experience. The OLA Parish app offers daily messages and Lenten activity suggestions.
AUCTION OPPORTUNITIES THIS WEEK – Best Day Ever will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, March 29. Students who have this get Non-Uniform Dress, Ice Cream treat and a Homework Pass. Games On Wheelz will be here on Thursday, March 30. Students signed up for this will have pizza lunch and will be called out of class for game time.

FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE – SAVE THE DATE – The Assumption Parent Board proudly presents “Love You to the Moon and Back” Father/ Daughter Dance, to be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 6-9pm in the Mulcahy Center. A photographer will be there to capture the special moments between you and your little lady. Save The Date – RELAY FOR LIFE – Gain parent hours by becoming a Super Hero to those who are battling cancer. Our Lady of Assumption Elementary and Parish are teaming up with the American Cancer Society to support its Relay for Life event on May 6-7. OLA will have our own booth and there will be students and adults walking on Saturday, May 6 from 10 AM – 10 PM! KARMA DAY – The room parents from all grades are currently seeking helpers to help out with Karma Day,Thursday June 8 from 11:30– 2:30pm. Karma Day is a student appreciation day on the last full day of school … room parents and parents work to create a fun-filled day for our students to enjoy. Each grade is responsible for creating an activity for all students to enjoy. If you could help supervise an activity we could really use your help! Please remember any hours worked will count toward next year, so you can get a kick start on your parent hours for 2017-2018! PROFORMA UNIFORM items may be ordered via a link on the school website. Items available are polo shirts, three options of jackets and PE pants. We have samples of each at the school. Items ordered will be delivered directly to school.

PARISH DIRECTORY – Our Lady of the Assumption Parish is creating a new Parish Pictorial Directory to document and celebrate our parish. Lifetouch is portraits of all families, with appointments through April. Only name and photo will be published in the directory – no personal info will be shared. Every family photographed will receive a complimentary directory and an 8 x10 portrait. There is still time to sign up by clicking on the link on the parish website: www.olaventura.com.
SCRIP NEWS – Support our school by purchasing SCRIP (gift cards) in the school office or by ordering from our large list. We stock many cards including restaurants, Starbuck’s, Von’s, Smart & Final, Macy’s, fast foods and more. Our school earns money for every sale of scrip. Every $200 purchase of scrip = 1 parent hour.
SPORTS NEWS: Congratulations to our boys and girls for their basketball seasons. All basketball jerseys (washed, please) must be returned to the office ASAP. The Sports Banquet honoring our basketball teams will take place next Tuesday, April 4 at 6 PM in Mulcahy Center.
