If you have not yet signed up, get your reservation into the school office today!
DISMISSAL / PICK UP PROCEDURES –As a reminder, school staff does not provide supervision past 3:00 PM on the front lawn. All students (grades K – 8) still on campus after 3:00 PM (full day) or 12:15 PM (half day) WILL BE ESCORTED TO AND SIGNED IN AT EXTENDED DAY CARE with the exception of those students involved in a school-sponsored afterschool activity and directly supervised by an adult.
FIDGET CUBES AND FIDGET SPINNERS – In recent days, the popularity of fidget spinners and fidget cubes has highly grown among our students. Teachers and staff are already noticing problems associated with students having these items at school. We have seen students arguing and competing over spinners, as well as disruption of the learning environment in classrooms and library. Our school discourages students bringing personal toys to school, and we feel that the fidget cubes and spinners fall into this toy category. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 3, students may no longer bring the fidget spinners or fidget cubes to school nor play with/use them on school grounds. Students who violate this new school policy will have the fidget spinner or fidget cube taken away, and a parent can pick up the item at the principal’s office. If an OLA student is on a STEP program that calls for a minor adjustment such as using a fidget spinner and fidget cube, the teacher can make an individual exception to this rule.
PRESCHOOL OPENINGS- Our Lady of the Assumption Preschool is still accepting openings for the 2017-2018 school year. Contact Susie Delaney at (805)642-7198 x213 or apply online at www.olaventura.org.
