FIRST HOLY COMMUNION – Congratulations to our second graders and other students who will make their First Holy Communion this Saturday, May 20 at 10 AM. Our whole school will attend the Monday morning 8 AM Mass on May 22 as the First Communicants once again wear their beautiful clothes and sit at the front of the church. They will have a breakfast in Hurley Hall following the mass, and their parents are invited to join us for coffee.
OLA TALENT SHOW – will take place on Tuesday, May 23 at 1 PM and 6:30 PM in the Mulcahy Center. Performers: please refer to the practice schedule posted on the bulletin board next to the office. The entire school will attend the 1 PM show.
Father-Daughter Thanks –Our Father-Daughter Dance last Saturday evening was a wonderful event, with beautiful decorations and great activities. Everyone had a good time and danced up a storm! Many thanks to Monica Minoui and her helpers for all the planning, creativity and hard work that went into making this an unforgettable night.
The APA Board plans to keep this as an annual event, and next year a Mother-Son event is in the works!
VIRTUS TRAINING/LIVESCAN FINGERPRINTING –There will be a Protecting God’s Children training on Tuesday, May 30 from 1 – 4 PM in the Santa Cruz Room. To register a place call (805)390-1260. DISMISSAL / PICK UP PROCEDURES –As a reminder, school staff does not provide supervision past 3:00 PM on the front lawn. All students (grades K – 8) still on campus after 3:00 PM (full day) or 12:15 PM (half day) WILL BE ESCORTED TO AND SIGNED IN AT EXTENDED DAY CARE with the exception of those students involved in a school-sponsored afterschool activity and directly supervised by an adult.

FULL PAYMENT TUITION OPTION – There is a discount for families who wish to pay full year’s tuition up front. Any family who pays the 2017-2018 tuition in full will receive a $100 per child discount, and the Smart Tuition fee of $50 will be waived. If you wish to take advantage of this option, please let Gina in our office know before the end of the school year.
Student Council Elections – The election process is under way for next year’s middle schoolers running for Student Council office for 2017-2018. Applications were already due to Mrs. Baloyo. The campaign day will be May 25 with speeches and voting on May 26.
SIDE KICKS – is a year-round soccer training academy designed for children 2 – 5 years old. The training is offered by OLA parent Matthew Girardot. Interested? Flyers are available in the school office.
Ventura County Fusion Soccer Camps have summer programs available. There is information in the school office.
St. Vincent de Paul Society has been operating Circle V Ranch Summer Camp in the Los Padres National Forest since 1945. There is a series of week-long camps offered…each is 6 days/5 nights long from June through August. The camp is open to all children regardless of race, religious denomination or financial status. KARMA DAY – The room parents from all grades are still seeking helpers to help out with Karma Day on Thursday June 8 from 11:30– 2:30pm. If you could help supervise an activity we could really use your help! Please remember any hours worked will count toward next year, so you can get a kick start on your parent hours for 2017-2018! APA BOARD – The Assumption Parent Association Board is a fund-raising and classroom support group that meets monthly and assists with all school activities. It’s a great way to get involved with school and earn ALL your parent hours. If you would like a fun and productive way to get more involved in school activities, consider the APA Board. SCHOOL CENTS –The School Cents receipt drive for Pacific View Mall has ended and we will find out next week how our school did.
SCRIP NEWS – Support our school by purchasing SCRIP (gift cards) in the school office or by ordering from our large list. We stock many cards including restaurants, Starbuck’s, Von’s, Smart & Final, Macy’s, fast foods and more. Our school earns money for every sale of scrip. Every $200 purchase of scrip = 1 parent hour. Consider ordering scrip ahead for the summer when our office is not open!
