RELAY FOR LIFE THANKS – Thanks to your kind donations and support OLA Parish was the 2nd largest fundraiser for the Ventura Relay for Life raising $6743! OLA School raised over $1500 of that money on its own. Go Dolphins! On May 6th and 7th , Team Captains Giang Nguyen and Mike Ewens had over 70 walkers – families, children, Pat Groff and Father Leon – on the track for 12 hours straight in the grey, drizzly weather. Why? They had a family member or friend survive or die from cancer. They had a cause. Thank you, Giang and Mike. Special thanks also goes to the Prayer Shawl Ministry, Aurora Gonzalez, Nikki Noonan, and Maureen Ryan. Countless hours were put into prayerful knitting, rosary making, teaching and silent auction compiling in order to create beautiful pocket prayer shawls, one-of-a-kind rosaries for sale, and earn-a-bead rosary bracelets.
We would also like to thank the Knights of Columbus #2498 and Ron Ryan for setting up and taking down Parish booths in the rain and for providing the OLA Relayers with snacks and juice to keep them fueled so they could keep on relaying. Thanks! A big thank you from OLA School to Rochida McClure for chairing this entire event and leading us all from start to finish!
