Please check with your child as they have it in their backpack. We had Religion, MAth- Fractions (equivalent) which we have spent a second day on it to help with understanding. We went to Church for the May Crowning Mass and it was beautiful! Seeing the 8th graders all dressed up like young ladies and men makes an amazing change in them. We worked on Spelling for a short time and also did some English in the workbook. The afternoon was dedicated to practicing the songs and lines for the play. Elementary Talent Show Notice for students who have already signed up:  Due to the overwhelming number of students who want to be in it this year, Mr. Doswell requests:

1.  Each student will participate in exclusively one act.

2.  Any background music must be provided to Mr. Doswell on Tuesday, May 22.

The set list order will correspond to the age of the students.  Younger students will perform before the older students.

It’s another busy day in 4th grade. We began with practicing the songs for tomorrow’s Mass at 10:30, then they went out to PE and we began Math. After break, we continued Math and then jumped into the play practice. The songs are fun and the parts they have are perfect for some of them. I can’t wait until they do it for you next Friday!

This afternoon, we had time for sloppy copies to be edited, then finish writing up the Scientific Method from the experiments and pass it in. We did some Science in the book and went onto Social Studies. THat rounded out our day.

Homework:

Final copy for Historical Fiction

Math: wkbk. 17.3

Social Studies: read pages 173- 177 and take notes for things that you want to bring up in a discussion.

Tomorrow we have Mass at 10:30, NOT 10:00.  Each student is asked to bring in a flower for the Mass bouquets.  Please join us if you can.

Please return the spring portraits that were sent home or send in payment as soon as possible to avoid charges.  It is a fundraiser for the school.

Social Studies Native American Visual Displays are due June 7.

It was great to see so many volunteer drivers for our next field trip and we are hopeful to give everyone a chance to drive this year.

Volunteers who can help with the vests, PLEASE let us know what time you can come this Monday either in the morning or after lunch or both!

We finished one of the science experiments with the rocks and minerals and we will do the 2nd one in the days ahead. They were really into it!

We are asking for Flowers for the May Crowning Mass on Friday at 10:30. We can take flowers tomorrow or Friday. We have 2 flower bearers and we need to fill 2 vases. Thank you ahead of time for all of your help.

We are coming closer to our play and Gold Rush day. We will be sending home the packets tomorrow along with a note letting you know how you could help to make this an awesome experience for the kids.

Homework:

Writing: sloppy copy is due in with the rest of the prewriting for the assignment. It will go home for the final copy to be in for Friday.

They needed to choose a historical figure that they would like to meet and make believe that they are in that time period and meeting the person. What would they like to ask, see, know about the person. It is to be written using “I” because the kids are there.
