Our Lady of the Assumption School offers an after- school sports program, under the supervision of the principal and the athletic director, for eligible students in grades 6, 7 and 8. The purposes of the athletic program are to teach sportsmanship, to develop healthy attitudes of competition, to learn to follow rules and to practice self-control.

OLA athletic teams compete in the Independent Catholic School Youth League, whose member schools include other Catholic and Christian schools in the area. The sports in which students play are Boys Flag Football, Girls Volleyball, Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball. The athletic director and all coaches are volunteers, and all are required to be fingerprinted, be current with VIRTUS training, and annually attend CYO coaching training provided by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Students who participate in the after-school sports program must maintain both their academic and conduct grades. Athletes must have and maintain at least a “C-” average (70%) in scholastic subjects, conduct and effort. If a student athlete’s grade drops after progress report time, that athlete will be suspended from play until his or her grade returns to at least a 70% average. All qualified students may try out for membership on sports teams and in extracurricular activities. The school is committed to providing every student a fair chance to participate. Decisions of the coach, in regards to making the team and playing time, made in consultation with athletic director and the principal, are final.
