Report Cards for the second trimester grading period are being sent home today. The Academic Awards for second trimester will take place on Monday, March 25 at 9:15 AM in the church.

 

The 2019 Dinner Auction Raffle is March 30! All school families recently received 20 raffle tickets to sell in support of our school and our "Bon Voyage" Auction fundraiser. Please read the paperwork that is included with the raffle tickets for important information about the Tuition raffle for school families and the Prize Baskets for student sellers. Baskets will be awarded to the winning ticket holders, after the dinner auction, at school, in early April. More raffle tickets are available in the office! Call Jennifer Bamieh with any questions at (805)340-9168. Students can sell raffle tickets after masses this weekend again at Friendship Sunday. Students should be in uniform and should bring their own tickets and change.

 

STILL TIME TO SIGN UP TO ATTEND DINNER AUCTION! A limited number of places are still available for the Dinner Auction on March 30. Sign up in the school office right away.

 

SPRING PICTURES will be created at Our Lady of the Assumption School this Thursday, March 21, 2019 by our school photographers, Lasting Memories. NEW FOR SPRING 2019! Select the background and pose of your choice from those shown on the order envelope or on our website at www.lmsep.com. Orders may be placed by returning the order envelope to the school on Picture Day OR online at www.lmsep.com (Click on the Orders/Pre-Orders tab at the top right of the home page) within two days of Picture Day. Some tips to help create a special portrait:

Select clothing that fits your child’s personality. Solid colored clothing is less distracting than busy patterns or stripes. Accessories should be simple and not distracting. NOTE: Sibling pictures are only photographed when there is a PARENT REQUEST. Please let Mrs. Ravenscroft know if you want a sibling picture.

 

COMPLETED REREGISTRATION COMMITMENT FORMS AND DEPOSIT FOR THE 2019 - 2020 SCHOOL YEAR WERE DUE BACK YESTERDAY. (Two payment option available.)REMINDERS ARE GOING HOME TODAY TO FAMILIES WHO DID NOT RETURN THEIR FORM.

 

LENTEN JOURNEY – On our Lenten journey, we listen to the daily readings and reflect on their meaning for us. What is your family doing for Lent? Lenten Soup Suppers (every week a different delicious meatless choice) followed by Stations of the Cross on Fridays are ways to enrich our Lenten experience. Download the OLA Parish app to receive daily messages and Lenten activity suggestions. All school classes will be doing special activities and prayers during the Lenten season, including school Stations of the Cross each Friday. As we journey through the season of Lent, we focus on prayer and good works. Our Middle School will also present Living Stations of the Cross on Monday, April 8 at 1:00 PM.

 

Mandatory Auction Donation Reminder At the beginning of the school year, the APA Board sent home a summary of planned fundraising activities for the 2018 - 2019 year. As you know, our annual dinner auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We depend on EVERY school family fulfilling their minimum (and mandatory) obligations of selling at least 10 raffle tickets AND donating at least $25 to purchase gift cards. Kindly drop off your donations to Mrs. Ravenscroft in the office, as we are recording as families fulfill their obligation. And of course, we hope to see you at our “Bon Voyage” Dinner Auction event on March 30.

 

LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS – As part of our Lenten journey, our parish offers a LENTEN SOUP SUPPER each Friday during the Lenten season. All the ministries in the parish are asked to sponsor one of the Fridays, and OLA School will be sponsoring the Soup Supper on Friday, April 5. We will need your help to accomplish this: Setup team (Mulcahy Center), Shopping & Prep of 2 non-meat soups, Serving, Support, Cleanup. Ms. Fussell has asked our 8th graders to assist with serving. This is a great way to add some Parent Hours! Please contact Pat Groff if you would like to help us in any way.

 

SEE’S CANDY ORDERS – can be brought in to school anytime until March 29. This is a special Easter candy fundraiser sponsored by our 8th graders to help them with their graduation costs. This is an OPTIONAL fundraiser but our eighth graders do appreciate your support.

 

SCHOOL UNIFORM NOTE: For students in K-8, all clothing worn at school must be uniform. Non-uniform jackets, raincoats and other apparel are not allowed. Our office sells crewneck sweatshirts year-round, as well as PE clothes. If you wish to order some warmer clothing, there are links on our school website to Dennis Uniform (sweatshirts, quarter-zips, sweaters) and Proforma (two styles of jackets, including a hooded rain jacket). Both uniform companies have links on our website.

 

Tuition Discount for Referring A Friend! The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has launched a Parent Referral Program. You and the referral will receive $100 off tuition for each referral that results in a new enrollment at a Catholic School. There is also a drawing for an iPad for referrals. SPORTS NEWS: Our boys and girls basketball teams continue their regular season games. League play concludes this week and the tournament will take place April 1 – 3. The game schedules can be found on our website (Athletic Calendar tab). GO DOLPHINS!

 

Box Tops for Education Collection – Keep saving those boxtops! All your student has to do is: (1) TRIM excess packaging, (2) CHECK that the product code and expiration date are legible, (3) ATTACH the Box Tops on the enclosed Collection Sheet...glue or clear tape only, please! (No staples.)  Every Collection Sheet turned in equals ONE entry in a drawing for $10 in Scrip Cards. Bring two or more sheets and increase your chances to win!  Thanks for supporting our awesome school by saving your Box Tops!
