The 2019 Dinner Auction Raffle is this Saturday, March 30! All school families received 20 raffle tickets to sell in support of our school and our "Bon Voyage" Auction fundraiser. WEDNESDAY, March 27 is the LAST day to turn in sold raffle tickets in order to qualify for the tuition raffle and the Prize Baskets for student sellers. The final day for raffle tickets is Friday. Baskets will be awarded to the winning ticket holders, after the dinner auction, at school, in early April. More raffle tickets are still available in the office! THERE IS STILL TIME TO SIGN UP TO ATTEND THE DINNER AUCTION! A few places are still available for the Dinner Auction. Sign up in the school office NO LATER THAN TOMORROW MORNING, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27.

 

LENTEN JOURNEY – On our Lenten journey, we listen to the daily readings and reflect on their meaning for us. What is your family doing for Lent? Lenten Soup Suppers (every week two different delicious meatless choices) followed by Stations of the Cross on Fridays are ways to enrich our Lenten experience. Download the OLA Parish app to receive daily messages and Lenten activity suggestions. All school classes will be doing special activities and prayers during the Lenten season, including school Stations of the Cross each Friday. As we journey through the season of Lent, we focus on prayer and good works. Our Middle School will also present Living Stations of the Cross on Monday, April 8 at 1:00 and 6:30 PM.

 

Mandatory Auction Donation Reminder At the beginning of the school year, the APA Board sent home a summary of planned fundraising activities for the 2018 - 2019 year. As you know, our annual dinner auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We depend on EVERY school family fulfilling their minimum (and mandatory) obligations of selling at least 10 raffle tickets AND donating at least $25 to purchase gift cards. Kindly drop off your donations to Mrs. Ravenscroft in the office ASAP, as we are recording as families fulfill their obligation. And of course, we hope to see you at our “Bon Voyage” Dinner Auction event on March 30.

 

LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS – As part of our Lenten journey, our parish offers a LENTEN SOUP SUPPER each Friday during the Lenten season. All the ministries in the parish are asked to sponsor one of the Fridays, and OLA School will be sponsoring the Soup Supper at 6 PM on Friday, April 5. We can use help for Setup (Mulcahy Center), Shopping & Prep of 2 non-meat soups, Serving, Support, Cleanup. Ms. Fussell has asked our 8th graders to assist with serving. This is a great way to add some Parent Hours! Please contact Pat Groff if you would like to help us in any way.

 

SEE’S CANDY ORDERS – All orders must be in by this Friday, March 29. This is a special Easter candy fundraiser sponsored by our 8th graders to help them with their graduation costs. This is an OPTIONAL fundraiser but our eighth graders do appreciate your support.

 

HOLY THURSDAY PROCESSION – On Holy Thursday, April 18, Father Leon invites all children who received First Holy Communion last year, and those preparing to make their First Holy Communion this year, to attend the HOLY THURSDAY liturgy and participate in the procession. This is a beautiful way to enrich your family’s celebration of the Easter Triduum. If you would like your child to participate, the child and at least one parent needs to attend the information meeting/rehearsal on Palm Sunday, April 14 at 2 PM in the church. TALENT SHOW – The OLA Talent Show is back! Our 8th grade is coordinating a school talent show to take place on Tuesday, May 7 at 1 PM in Mulcahy Center. Tryouts have concluded and rehearsals are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime in Mulcahy Center. The schedule calendar is located on the Parent Bulletin Board outside the library.

 

Yearbook Order Forms – are coming home today and are due back by April 12. Mrs. Smithson is still accepting ads…please submit as soon as possible. We welcome your photos for all school events throughout this school year! Please send to librarian@olaventura.org.

 

SPORTS NEWS: Our boys and girls basketball teams are wrapping up their regular season games. The end-of-season tournament will take place April 1 – 3. The game schedules can be found on our website (Athletic Calendar tab). GO DOLPHINS!

 

Box Tops for Education Collection – Keep saving those boxtops! All your student has to do is: (1) TRIM excess packaging, (2) CHECK that the product code and expiration date are legible, (3) ATTACH the Box Tops on the enclosed Collection Sheet...glue or clear tape only, please! (No staples.)  Every Collection Sheet turned in equals ONE entry in a drawing for $10 in Scrip Cards. Bring two or more sheets and increase your chances to win!  Thanks for supporting our awesome school by saving your Box Tops!
