On Friday, Fr. Leon announced that Ms. Karen Fussell has been named the next Principal of Our Lady of the Assumption School, effective July 1, 2019. Ms. Fussell has been a teacher at OLA since 1999 and is also the Vice Principal. Congratulations and many blessings to Ms. Fussell!

Presentation of Donors Plaque for the OLA Sports Court – Tomorrow, May 22, we will present a Plaque of Donors and thank all those who contributed to making our OLA Sport Court a reality in 2014. Our OLA athletes and all our students continue to enjoy the courts every day! The plaque will be placed at the side of the court following the summer construction. Thank you to all our generous donors!

Boots & Bows, the 2019 Father-Daughter Dance, was a big success and lots of fun! Thanks to Monica Minoui, Richelle Bart, Amy Miller, Lori Caron and everyone who helped make it an amazing evening for our girls and their dads last Friday. Love that chocolate fountain!

Student Council Elections – The election process is under way for next year’s middle schoolers running for Student Council office for 2019-2020. The campaign day will be Wednesday, May 29 with speeches and voting next Friday, May 31.

“Mission: Possible”   Vacation Bible Camp 2019    

VBC 2019 is coming soon! Mission: Possible is all about encouraging children to see that they can be part of God’s mission to love people and tell them all about His love. Using stories from the past and the present Mission: Possible helps children to see the importance of making God’s mission known.

Dates: June 24-28th, 2019     Time: 9am-12pm     Location: Sacred Heart Church

Registration will be available in early May through the Parish website. Youth and adult volunteers needed! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to teach children what faith is and how to put their faith in God! We are looking for individuals of all ages, including middle school and high school students, who may be available to share their gifts in support of this year’s VBC! We need you! Interested? You can earn Parent Hours for next school year for your time at VBC!

APA BOARD –The Assumption Parent Association Board is a fund-raising and classroom support group that meets monthly and assists with classroom projects and all school activities. It’s a great way to get involved with school and earn ALL your parent hours. If you are interested, please join us for our first meeting in September 4 and see if you would like to join us! The school calendar includes all the meeting dates and times.

KARMA DAY - The room parents from all grades will once again present Karma Day on Wednesday, June 12 from 11:30– 2:30pm.  If you would like to help with a game or activity, please volunteer. Any parent hours worked will count toward next year, so you can get a kick start on 2019 - 2020! If you can help, please contact Jen Colitti at or (805)407-2335.

FULL PAYMENT TUITION OPTION - Interested in paying the 2019-2020 tuition in full? There is a discount for families who wish to pay full year’s tuition up front. Any family who pays the 2019-2020 tuition in full will receive a $100 per child discount, and the Smart Tuition fee of $50 will be waived. If you wish to take advantage of this option, please let Gina in our office know by June 1.

FYI…USED UNIFORM SALE IS COMING: On Thursday and Friday, June 6 and 7 we will host our annual Used Uniform Sale in the Mulcahy Center. Parents bring their children’s clean uniform items with payment envelopes and prices attached. The hall is open for parents during both school days, and after school. This is a cash, no-host sale, not a school office sale. It’s a chance to get great deals on uniform items. Dennis and ProForma Uniform will NOT do on-site sales in Ventura this summer. New items may be purchased online or in their stores. The last week of school, June 10 - 13, will be Non-uniform Dress days for all students.

SERAPHS VOLLEYBALL CAMPSt. Bonaventure High School will host a Volleyball Camp for students entering grades 4 – 8. The camp will take place in the SB gym June 17 – 20 from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. The cost is $60 per camper and includes camp t-shirt and instruction by SB coaches and players. Preregister by contacting Coach Jonathan Ballard at

Box Tops for Education Collection – Keep saving boxtops. All your student has to do is: (1) TRIM excess packaging, (2) CHECK that the product code and expiration date are legible. (3) Save for our June turn-in on June 11, our final one for the school year. Thanks for supporting our awesome school by saving your Box Tops!
