Congratulations to our Student Council for 2019 – 2020! All our candidates did a great job last week with their campaigns and speeches. We are so proud of each and every one of them! Our Student Council members for next year are:

NON-UNIFORM DRESS BEGINS THIS THURSDAY: The last week of school, June 6 - 13, will be Non-uniform Dress days for all students timed to the Used Uniform Sale.

 

CLASS OF 2019 Graduation - Graduation events for the Class of 2019 are right around the corner! The students will take their final exams this week…June 4, 5 and 6, and class retreat will be held at the beach this Friday, June 7. The class will enjoy a Disneyland trip next Monday, June 10. On Tuesday, June 11 the grads will be treated to lunch at the Parish Center. Later that evening, the Class of 2019 will have their graduation mass and diploma/awards ceremony in the church, beginning at 5 PM. All OLA families and friends are invited to join us for graduation.

 

USED UNIFORM SALE: This Thursday and Friday, June 6 and 7 we will host our annual Used Uniform Sale in the Mulcahy Center. Parents, bring your children’s clean uniform items with payment envelopes and prices attached. The hall is open for parents to shop all day both school days, and after school. This is a no-host sale, not a school office sale. Our new families are invited to come and shop too. Please plan ahead and bring small bills, as our office will not make change! It’s a chance to get great deals on uniform items. Dennis and ProForma Uniform do NOT do on-site sales in Ventura during the summer. New items may be purchased online or in their stores. All unsold used items must be picked up on Friday, June 7 by 3:30 PM or they will be donated.

 

YEARBOOKS – will be delivered this week to students who pre-ordered them. There are a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase. They are first-come, first-served and may be purchased in the office.

 

LIBRARY BOOKS – ALL library books are due at this time!!

 

FULL PAYMENT TUITION OPTION - Interested in paying the 2019-2020 tuition in full? There is a discount for families who wish to pay full year’s tuition up front. Any family who pays the 2019-2020 tuition in full will receive a $100 per child discount, and the Smart Tuition fee of $50 will be waived. If you wish to take advantage of this option, please let Gina in our office know by June 1.

 

Mission:Possible - OLA Vacation Bible Camp 2019

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join us as we journey from the past – to the present on a faith filled mission sharing the good news of the Lord. Mission: Possible is about encouraging our children to see that they are part of God’s mission to love and tell others about His love.

Youth and adult volunteers needed! We are looking for individuals of all ages, including middle school and high school students, who may be available to share their gifts in support of this year’s VBC! We need you! ATTENTION NEXT YEAR’S 7TH GRADERS AND PARENTS: Proof of a Tdap booster is required for your child by the first day of school in August. If you have already completed this requirement, please bring in the paperwork now. Whooping cough, also known as Pertussis, continues to threaten students in California. To help stop the spread, California state law requires all incoming 7th graders IN ALL SCHOOLS to show proof of whooping cough booster (Tdap) shot. Students will not be allowed to attend without an updated shot record indicating this immunization. As of January 1, 2016, a personal beliefs exemption is no longer an option for vaccines currently required for entry into school in California. In addition, all immunization requirements for age and grade need to be met prior to the student entering 7th grade. Mrs. Baloyo sent home a flyer about this a few months ago. SUMMER CONSTRUCTION AT OLA – The long-awaited school reroofing project will happen this summer. The roof will be replaced on the school buildings and a new skylight installed. Plans call for demolition to start on June 17. The school office will be closed during demo and part of construction, so all business with the school should be done before June 17, or a message left with the church office. The work will be completed in August.

 

KARMA DAY - The room parents from all grades will once again present Karma Day on Wednesday, June 12 from 11:30– 2:30pm.  If you would like to help with a game or activity, please volunteer. Any parent hours worked will count toward next year, so you can get a kick start on 2019 - 2020! If you can help, please contact Jen Colitti at jengirlc@pacbell.net or (805)407-2335.

 

CROSS COUNTRY INTEREST FLYER – In today’s envelope, an interest survey is going home to students who will be in middle school next year. We hope to have a Cross Country team for boys and girls, to practice and compete locally. Please complete and send back the flyer if interested. Details will be announced at the start of the new school year.

 

SERAPHS VOLLEYBALL CAMPSt. Bonaventure High School will host a Volleyball Camp for students entering grades 4 – 8. The camp will take place in the SB gym June 17 – 20 from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. The cost is $60 per camper and includes camp t-shirt and instruction by SB coaches and players. Preregister by contacting Coach Jonathan Ballard at coachjon84@gmail.com.

 

Box Tops for Education Collection - Please send in your clipped Box Tops next Tuesday, June 11th.  This will be the final collection of the school year. Also, in the coming months, Box Tops for Education will be going digital!!  During the transition to Digital Collections, we will continue to redeem all valid physical Box Tops until their expiration date...so please save your clipped boxtops over the summer!  Refer to the enclosed Family Letter, or visit BTFE.com/SneakPeek for more information. Thanks again for supporting our awesome school by turning in your Box Tops!
