Welcome Back OLA Families!

We are so pleased and excited to welcome our core families as well as new members of our OLA family.  Many thanks to our teachers and parents for the smooth transition to Distance Learning for the beginning of the school year.

We send our prayers and well wishes to our Staff members that will be moving on to new opportunities this year and will not return to OLA:  Mrs. Cardoza Computer Science Aide and Mrs. Cheryl Kewley our Music teacher.

APA Board Survey:

Early this week our APA board sent out a survey to get a sense of direction on our school community’s views and how to proceed this year with fundraising objectives and goals.  Your input is important and valuable information.  If you have not already done so please take a moment and complete the survey. We thank those who have already completed our survey.

OLA School is applying for a waiver through the Ventura County Public Health Department.  Thank you all for participating in the process by completing the survey I sent out last week.   I received 146 responses. We have 147 families, but it is important to take into account that each family has more than one email address but that does not diminish the response.  I received 47 written responses. I appreciate the extra time you took to communicate to me your concerns and opinions.  Thank you! It is a cumbersome process.  I will send out at the beginning of the week the School’s Reopening Plan and it will also be viewable on our school website.  All of the data collected along with the application will be first sent to DCS (Los Angeles Archdiocese  Department of Catholic Schools) for review.  This is a 48-hour turnaround and upon approval, I will send in our documents to the Ventura County Health Care Agency.  They are stating their turnaround time is two weeks.  I  understand families that are still uncomfortable with sending their child(ren) back to school under the waiver or if we are off the monitor list we will offer live streaming services.  Our Kindergarten is a prototype of what that will look like in practice.  We are ironing out the “bugs” with them.  We will continue live-streaming through zoom and our online platforms all year.

Here are the results of the survey:
