Rosay Facts

Did you know?

The Rosary was JPII’s favorite prayer and he made time to pray all 15 decades every single day.

JPII described praying the Rosary this way: “Contemplating the face of Jesus through the eyes of Mary.” Pretty cool, right?!?

During the 1600’s Century, the Ottoman Empire was attacking Venice at the Battle of Lepanto. The Ottoman Empire was intent on destroying Christianity forever. Hopelessly outnumbered, the Pope begged everyone to pray the Rosary, and they did. Miraculously the Ottoman Empire was defeated and Mary was given the title Our Lady of Victory.

When we pray the Rosary we are offering Mary a bouquet of roses…and this isn’t just a metaphor! A couple of different times people have witnessed real roses falling from the mouths of saints as they recite the Rosary.

St. Therese described the Rosary as a long chain that linked heaven and earth. When we pray we hold one end and Mary holds the other.

St. Padre Pio described the Rosary as our greatest weapon.

Welcome to the new APA Board Corner of the Weekly School News Notes!

Hello OLA Families! The APA Board meets monthly to discuss and consider ways to support our school, teachers, and principal, mainly through fundraising but also in other ways such as Teacher Appreciation events. Much of our efforts go toward our major fundraisers, the Fall Movie Night and the Spring Auction, with their accompanying raffles. Last year we were not able to hold our auction event but we had already started selling spring raffle tickets and we were able to hold the raffle drawing as well as auction off the class projects which had already been created. Thanks to much hard work and support of all the school families, the APA Board over the course of the year last year raised enough money for the school to purchase a new Digital Marquee, which should be arriving in the next couple of months, and a new, safer playground surface for the KindergartenPlayground!

This year, we are hard at work speaking to plumbers and suppliers toward the purchase and installation of Water Bottle Refill Stations to replace the water fountains currently in place at the school, as well as pricing new handwashing stations for outside on the playground. You will shortly be receiving a Sponsorship Form if you are inspired to help with this exciting improvement to our school facility.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th at 6:00 pm, though this date is subject to change. We meet in person, socially distanced, and via Zoom, and we welcome all families to attend our meetings! Thank you for supporting the APA Board as we continue to make OLA School the best that it can be.
