Our “Spring is in the Air” Auction is in full swing!  Have you logged on to Bidding Owl yet to bid on the 70+ remaining items and sponsorship opportunities?  The “Buy Me Now” feature has been used by a few lucky bidders to get the items they really, really wanted to buy.  Make sure you check out all of the items and place your bids today.

There’s something for everyone this year...trips for families and couples, games and movies for the kids, clothes and golfing for Dad, pampering for Mom, restaurant gift cards, sports memorabilia, and a whole lot more.  And of course, the classroom projects, made with love and enthusiasm, are so special.

Remember to encourage friends and family who aren’t local to Ventura to support the auction by sponsoring the Media Resource Center at the Bronze, Silver, or Gold levels or chip in to help purchase a new iPad Charging Station.  Our goal is to raise at least $30,000 through Bidding Owl and we are just over $15,000 in bids as of Monday, April 19th.  We need every school family to participate and share the link to Bidding Owl with friends and family.

Don’t miss out on bidding on these wonderful items.  The auction closes on Friday, April 30th at 9:00 p.m. (PST).  Thanks so much and God Bless.

spring is in the air

We’re getting closer to our Auction Raffle goal!  So far, we have raised $20,360!!  However, we are still $9,640 away from our goal of $30K, so keep selling those raffle tickets!  The sale ends at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 28th.

The kids really want a Kona Ice Party AND also want to see Ms. Fussell & Mrs. McReynolds do a hilarious “Principal and Vice-Principal Stunt”, but we must meet our school-wide goal of $30,000 for this to happen!

Congratulations to the students in these families who have sold 40 or more tickets so far!! These students will get to do an announcement on the loudspeaker (if desired) to the whole school!

Alvarado, Bamieh, Duddy, Felts, Hayashi, McCalister, Panza & Salazar!

Each classroom that has 100% participation (10 required tickets sold) will earn a “Teacher Stunt”, and the top 3 classes with the highest ticket sales will earn an Ice Cream Party and a Free Dress Day!

These are the current counts for each classroom showing how many more students need to sell their 10 tickets to get to 100% participation:

Kindergarten – 12 more students need to sell 10 tickets each to get to 100% participation!

1st Grade – 9 more students need to sell!

2nd Grade – only 3 more students needed!

3rd Grade – only 4 more students to go!

4th Grade – 6 more students need to sell!

5th Grade – 8 more students to go!

6th Grade – 15 more students need to sell!

7th Grade – 9 more students to go!

8th Grade – 12 more students need to sell 10 tickets each to get to 100% participation!

A reminder that if you don’t sell your minimum 10 required raffle tickets, you will be billed $100.  If you turn in your raffle tickets, you could win $1,500!  So, you might as well turn them in!  Please do so on or before Wednesday, April 28th at 3:00 pm.

We also encourage you to use SOCIAL MEDIA to advertise the raffle sale!  Recipients of the cash prizes (1st - $1,500, 2nd - $1,000, and 3rd - $500) do not have to be present to win, so sell raffle tickets to relatives and friends near and far!!

This is an essential fundraiser for our school!  Thank you to everyone for your support!  Let’s all keep selling those raffle tickets so we can meet our school-wide goal of $30K!!  If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Bamieh at (805) 340-9168 / or Amber McCalister at (805) 320-5911 /

APA Board Position Openings ~

We are coming up to the end of the school year and the Assumption Parent Association (APA) has openings for the 2021-2022 academic year.  We welcome all parents to participate in our meetings and hope you will consider serving as a Board member.

The openings include:

Vice President:  This position assists the President and in the absence of the President, shall perform the duties of the President

Secretary:  This position maintains a written record of all APA activities, including preparing the Minutes from our monthly meetings.

Room Parent Coordinator:  This is a two-person position and we have one position filled.  This position coordinates the activities of the 9 Room Parents related to the classroom and school activities of each grade (i.e., Christmas Party, Valentine's Party, Auction Classroom Project and Karma Day, etc.)

The other APA Board positions include President, Treasurer, Hospitality Coordinator, Room Parent Coordinator (2 positions), and "Shadow" position.

A Shadow position allows a parent to determine compatibility and ability to succeed the incumbent in their current position in the coming or future academic year.  These positions do not have voting rights.  It provides an insight into the work of the Board and allows you to determine if you are able to play an active role as an officer.

Please contact Kerry Murphy, APA President, at 805/637-3277 (cell) or by email at if you are interested in learning more about the positions and the valuable role the APA plays in raising much-needed funds for OLA School each year.  We welcome fresh faces with new ideas on how we can support the school next year and beyond.  Thank you very much.

Save the Earth! ~ April 19-23, 2021

We recycle because it helps the environment. By recycling, you can help conserve natural resources, save energy, and reduce landfills.  As followers of Jesus, we are called to be stewards of the Earth and its inhabitants in any way possible.  Recycling fulfills this mission by helping preserve the planet for future generations.  The Student Council is inviting the school to participate in a recycling event this week, the week of April 19 - 23! The goal is to completely fill three trash cans in the hallway with recycling from paper, plastic, and metal (aluminum cans) materials!

Thank you~ OLA Student Council

After School Pick Up

We have been getting complaints from our neighbors about their driveways being blocked and worries about the possibility of emergency vehicles being able to access their properties if the need arises.  We will continue to try and get the students out as quickly as possible.  For after-school pickup please try to arrive closer to dismissal time which begins at 2:30.   I  am hopeful this will alleviate the backup and the concerns our neighbors are experiencing. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Please note this year CEF will not be sending out the pre-filled forms. All families need to complete the forms this year if they are planning to seek funding from CEF.  Please note all appointments will be via Zoom.

This year our school is participating in the virtual processing of CEF applications. Please know you may still pick up applications in the school office and they are available to download on the school website.   The Zoom Virtual Application Processing for our school is on May 13, 2021.

In order to continue to work towards streamlining the CEF Application process and in an attempt to ease some of the burdens of the process for our School partners, CEF will be implementing an Online Appointment system for the Cycle 3 Process. Through this process, it is our hope that this online appointment system will make it easier on our partner schools not just in terms of the initial sign-up of appointments but also save them time via email & text reminders for parents.

Below is a walk-through of how parents can set up their appointments with CEF via our new Online System.

  • At the CEF Home page, on the top menu bar hover over the CONTACT US link and a drop-down menu will appear, SELECT "TAP Appointments"
  • SELECT “CLICK HERE” on the "TAP Appointments" webpage (Make sure to turn off any “Pop-up Blockers”)
  • SELECT “Next” on the Welcome Screen
  • Choose a Location where your students will be attending (ELEMENTARY SCHOOL) and SELECT “Next"
  • Choose a Time to meet with CEF Representatives and SELECT “Next”
  • Enter in your information to reserve your appointment (Make sure to enter your Cell and Email in order to get text and email reminders) and SELECT “Save”
  • Please fill out the Digital Application before your Appointment, DO NOT fill out a paper application if you will be submitting it through Zoom. Once you join the Zoom Meeting the CEF representative will provide you with an email address where you will email your completed application.

A reminder for parents attending the virtual application processing via Zoom: Any parents that miss the virtual application process can turn their applications in thru the school.

Office Hours: The best times to conduct school business in the office are 8:30 to 12:00, 12:40 to 2:15, and 3:00 - 3:30.  Please do not come in during dismissal.  We are calling students for pick-up and are unable to give you uninterrupted attention.
