grateful with fall leaves and pumpkin

"When you sit down to eat, pray. When you eat bread, do so thanking Him for being so generous to you. If you drink wine, be mindful of Him who has given it to you for your pleasure and as a relief in sickness. When you dress, thank Him for His kindness in providing you with clothes. When you look at the sky and the beauty of the stars, throw yourself at God’s feet and adore Him who in His wisdom has arranged things in this way. Similarly, when the sun goes down and when it rises, when you are asleep or awake, give thanks to God, who created and arranged all things for your benefit, to have you know, love and praise their Creator."

St. Basil the Great

We are so very thankful for you choosing OLA as your school and community to educate your children.  We are honored to be a part of your educational and spiritual journey. We wish you all a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Blessings OLA Teachers & Staff~

stewardship components on a cross

The Virtue  for the Month of November is Stewardship - Returning to God the 1st fruits of your time, talent, & treasure.  As a school we will explore the Pillars of Stewardship - Hospitality, Prayer, Formation, and Service.

Last week our focus was on Hospitality. Let's turn our attention to prayer. Padre Pio wrote “ Prayer is the oxygen of the soul”. Prayer is as necessary to our souls as food is to our bodies. Prayer and the sacraments predispose  a soul to receive God’s abundant graces, which are necessary to grow in holiness, relationship with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We simply cannot grow spiritually without a consistent and persistent effort to pray; the Chistian life is simply not sustainable without it.

Each grade will focus on a Saint that demonstrates these pillars.  The Saint for PK-2nd Grade is St. Elizabeth of Hungary. The Saint for 3rd-5th grade is Bl Fra Angelico.  The Saint for Middle School 6th - 8th Grade is St. Giuseppe Moscoti.

Travel Guidance Recommendations from the CDC:

 Before You Travel

Make sure to plan ahead:

  • Make sure you understand and follow all state, local, and territorial travel restrictions, including mask wearing, proof of vaccination, testing, or quarantine requirements.
  • For up-to-date information and travel guidance, check the state or territorial and local health department’s website where you are, along your route, and where you are going.
  • If traveling by air, check if your airline requires any testing, vaccination, or other documents.
Prepare to be flexible during your trip as restrictions and policies may change during your travel.
After Travel:

You might have been exposed to COVID-19 on your travels. You might feel well and not have any symptoms, but you can still be infected and spread the virus to others. People who are not fully vaccinated are more likely to get COVID-19 and spread it to others. For this reason, CDC recommends taking the following precautions after returning from travel.

ALL Travelers

  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested
  •  if you develop symptoms.

If you are NOT fully vaccinated

Self-quarantine and get tested after travel:

  • Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after returning from travel.
  • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

COVID Test Site

We are partnering with COVID Testing Appointments, LLC to offer no-cost COVID -19 Test to our school community and its families.   Their mission is to “Provide No Cost COVID Testing and Services to the masses assisting schools, business, and our communities.”  They provide Rapid Antigen and Rapid Antibody testing which allows you to test in the privacy of your home to determine results.  The Rapid Antibody Test helps you determine if you've had COVID-19.  It is important to note that their laboratory is certified by the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services. This is referred to as CLIA. This is important because CLIA establishes quality standards to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of the test results regardless of where the test is performed.  Most results are in 24-48 hours.

The testing packets are available in the office.  Our lab pick up days will be on Wednesdays  to start.
