Student Council Officers for 2018-2019 – Congratulations to the new OLA Student Council officers for next year, elected last Friday. They are: Commissioner of Spirit, Nathan Buehner; Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Izzy Padilla; Commissioner of Athletics, Henry Cooper; Historian, Bella Pound; Secretary, Kirra Crane; Vice President, Thomas McReynolds and President, Dylan Abdulhai. We salute and commend all our candidates for office for their great campaigns and spirited speeches. Many thanks to Mrs. Baloyo, Student Council moderator, for all her hard work and guidance.
CLASS OF 2018…GRADUATION IS COMING! Graduation events for the Class of 2018 are right around the corner! The students will take their final exams this Wednesday – Friday. On Monday, June 4, the class will have their Disneyland trip, and a class retreat will be held at Arroyo Verde Park on Tuesday, June 5. On Wednesday, June 6 the grads will be treated to a wonderful lunch at the Parish Center. Later that evening, the Class of 2018 will have their graduation mass and diploma/awards ceremony in the church, beginning at 5 PM. All OLA families and friends are invited to join us for graduation.
FULL PAYMENT TUITION OPTION - Interested in paying the 2018-2019 tuition in full? There is a discount for families who wish to pay full year’s tuition up front. Any family who pays the 2018 - 2019 tuition in full will receive a $100 per child discount, and the Smart Tuition fee of $50 will be waived. If you wish to take advantage of this option, please let Gina in our office know no later than June 8.
School Families Farewell and Picnic – Today, beginning at 11:15 AM, all our students will participate in a Farewell and Picnic with their School K-8 Families. Each eighth grader will hand off their family saint banner to their family seventh grader, and we will salute and thank our eighth graders. Then each student family will sit together for a final picnic lunch together.
OLA Vacation Bible Camp 2018 “May the Lord Be With You” Calling all campers and star troopers! This summer come and have fun as we search the stars and grow in our faith together! Our Lady of the Assumption Church is hosting Vacation Bible Camp for children entering grades K - 5.

USED UNIFORM SALE IS COMING: Next Monday and Tuesday, June 4 and 5 we will have our annual Used Uniform Sale in the Mulcahy Center. Parents bring their children’s clean uniform items with payment envelopes and prices attached. The hall is open for parents to shop all day both school days, and after school. This is a no-host sale, not a school office sale. Please plan ahead and bring small bills, as our office does not have change! It’s a chance to get great deals on uniform items. Dennis and ProForma Uniform will NOT be doing on-site sales in Ventura this summer. New items may be purchased online or in their stores. The last week of school, June 4 - 8, will be Non-Uniform Dress days for all students.
PARENT HELP NEDED - KARMA DAY - The room parents from all grades will once again present Karma Day on Thursday June 7 from 11:30– 2:30pm. Parents, we need your help to make this a fun day for our students! If you would like to help with a game or activity, please volunteer. Any parent hours worked will count toward next year, so you can get a kick start on 2018-2019! BE A PART OF OLA’S ASSUMPTION PARENT BOARD - The Assumption Parent Association Board is a fund-raising and classroom support group that meets monthly and assists with all school activities. It’s a great way to get involved with school and earn ALL your parent hours. We are currently looking for one or two persons to help with Hospitality for next year. This position coordinates food and drink for evening events and Teacher Appreciation. Please also consider joining the board as an at-large member to assist yearlong board activities. HELP NEEDED – The OLA Parent Board is planning fundraising activities to support our school next year. We are looking for one or two parents to chair our Read-A-Thon in September. Both need to be able to be at school in the mornings during the read-a-thon. This could be the perfect short-term position for someone who is able to work on this two-week fundraiser and earn Parent Hours. We will show you what to do! GET A PERSONALIZED PAVER FOR YOUR FAMILY ON OUR SCHOOL PLAZA – We invite all school families and alumni to consider a donation to the new plaza at the front of the school. Information and naming opportunities went home a few weeks ago. This beautiful space has added safety and beauty to the school entrance, and provides space for prayer, instruction and gathering for social events. There are opportunities for donating to this project, including numerous opportunities to give, from pavers to fencing and entrances. This is a chance to invest in the school and have your family and childrens’ names on pavers to always be at the school. Please consider a gift in memory of a relative, school graduate or grandparent.
St. Bonaventure HS 2018 Youth Summer Cheer & Dance Camp – will be offered July 10-12 from 3:30 – 5:30 PM, and will end with a performance for family and friends on Thursday, July 12 at 5 PM. SUMMER OPPORTUNITY – Our office has information about two summer opportunities for your child. The National Youth Leadership Foundation is offering Pathways To STEM, weeklong residential study/camp experiences at colleges and universities all over the country, including Occidental College in Los Angeles.
