Our Lady of the Assumption

News Notes for September 11, 2018

OUTDOOR MASS – Our Lady of the Assumption Parish’s OUTDOOR MASS AND PICNIC will take place this Saturday, September 15 on the back lawn of the school. Check in and registration will begin at 3:00 PM with Mass beginning at 4 PM. This is a wonderful day of prayer and fellowship, not to mention great food and entertainment. We encourage ALL school families to attend. RSVP for the mass at the church office or on their website. Opportunity for Parent Hours: All school families are asked to contribute to this event by bringing a case of 16 oz bottled water. This can be delivered to the school any time from this Wednesday through Saturday, to the stage in Mulcahy Center. For every $15 you spend, one parent hour is earned.

STUDENT-PARENT HANDBOOK – All new families should have received a paper copy of our school handbook last week. The entire handbook can also be found on the school website. We ask all parents to read the handbook, then sign and return the acknowledgement. Please return all the paperwork that was sent home at the beginning of school ASAP. These are necessary forms for emergency and medical information.

GRADELINK – Gradelink is a web-based program that allows teachers to post grades, and allows parents to view students’ grades and keep up on assignments. Login info was sent home last week to all families. If you have any difficulty logging in, or find yourself locked out, call the office.

PARKING LOT - Thanks to everyone for their cooperation and safe driving in the parking lot. If you are driving through the line after school, please assist us by using the FAMILY VISOR TAG in your car – it will help us identify your vehicle and get your child to you more quickly. Additional visor tags are available. Notes: There is NO LEFT TURN from Dunning Street into the carline in the morning or afternoon. This stops traffic and is unfair to cars patiently waiting in line. If you come in from Telegraph Road to Dunning, please go around San Luis Street and join the end of our carline. For safety, be sure to use the crosswalk to walk your child across the lanes.     Please do not stop and let children out in the middle of the parking lot!!

PICTURE DAY – Will be this Thursday, September 13. Order envelopes went home last week for parents to fill out. Students wear school uniform for these photos.

LEGO LEAGUE - Hey, all LEGO fans!! It is that time again.  Our FIRST LEGO Robotics League will start again this Friday, September 14.  Any student grades fourth and above are invited to come join in the fun!  We will meet in the computer lab right after school dismissal, at 3:00, and meet until 4:00.  The new challenge will be discussed, and building the mission models will begin right away. If you are currently a member, or have wanted to join before, but never have, come join us on Friday, September 14 at 3:00 in the computer lab! We could use more parent coaches…if interested, contact Mrs. Schiemann at
