OCTOBER is the month of Mary and Our Lady of the Assumption School joins with our parish and the nation to celebrate in a variety of ways of prayer and service. We celebrate all life this month with RESPECT LIFE MONTH. Our church is decorated with beautiful posters created by our students, depicting Mary, Jesus and all forms of life. In classes, we talk about the sanctity of all life, from the unborn, to tiny babies, to those whose bodies are not strong, to the elderly and sick. The children know that all are precious in God's eyes! In each classroom, there is a large plastic Respect Life baby bottle. We are collecting change throughout the month for Life Centers of Ventura, serving mothers and children in need.
Next week, we will join with St. Bonaventure High School for Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat. Students will be invited to collect canned goods, either from home or as they trick or treat, to give to those in need. We will have containers in each classroom through November 1. This will all benefit the Ventura Catholic Charities Food Bank.
On this Saturday, October 13, all are invited to pray the Rosary on the front steps of Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 11:45 AM. This is a nationwide prayer event for Peace! If you cannot make it, we encourage you to pray at home or wherever you are.
We encourage all our families to join in prayer and service activities during this special month of Mary.
