Our Lady of the Assumption

News Notes for November 13, 2018

The entire Our Lady of the Assumption School and Parish community is united in prayer with the communities of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Malibu, as they return and recover from the devastating fires and violence that swept through their areas last week.

NON-UNIFORM DRESS ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14 – Our Student Council is sponsoring a non-uniform dress tomorrow. Students are asked to bring either peanut butter or cereal to contribute to the OLA Parish Thanksgiving Food drive.

Student Raffle Drawing: Congratulations to 3rd grader Ella Seguine, the student winner of the new iPad in our Movie Night Raffle ticket drawing!

PARENT CONFERENCES – The First Trimester ends this Friday, November 16, and the school schedules four noon dismissal days for the purpose of conferences: November 15, 16, 19 and 20. Your child’s teacher returned your appointment slip to you. Please contact the teacher if you will not be able to keep your appointment.

HOT LUNCH HELPER NEEDED - WE ARE IN NEED OF ONE PARENT TO ASSIST WITH SERVING CHOICE LUNCH ON TUESDAYS. THE HOURS ARE 11:45 AM – 12:20 PM. EARN PARENT HOURS AS WELL AS LUNCH CREDIT FOR YOUR STUDENT! Please contact Gina Ravenscroft in our office at (805)642-7198.

SQUARE1 ART FUNDRAISER ORDERS: Don’t forget to order cool gifts for that special family member or hard-to-buy-for person. With over 40 unique and useful keepsakes ready to purchase during the Square 1 Art fundraiser, your child's artwork is the perfect gift for any occasion or celebration. Nothing says “you’re loved” like “I made this art keepsake just for you!” It’s the final days of the fundraiser, so don’t delay. The school benefits with every order!           LAST DAY TO ORDER: 11/16/2018

LOT REMINDERS - If you park and walk in, be sure to use the crosswalk to walk your child across the lanes.     Morning drivers, please do not stop and let children out in the drive lane of the parking lot. Our valet lane moves quickly and is safer for our children. A growing number of students whose parents have designated them as “walkers” after school leave the school area to walk to the front of the church to wait. The front of the church is not a supervised area and we do not recommend that parents have their children wait there.

SAVE THE DATE: Our Lady of the Assumption School will host a Poker Tournament on Saturday, December 1 in Mulcahy Center, starting at 5:30 PM. The cost is $60, which includes entrance, dinner, poker chips and a drink ticket. Plan to join in the fun!

NAMING OPPORTUNITIES ON OUR SCHOOL PLAZA – We invite all school families and alumni to consider a donation to the school plaza. There are still opportunities for donating to this project, including numerous opportunities to give. This is a chance to invest in the school and have your family and childrens’ names on pavers to always be at the school. Please consider a gift in memory of a relative, school graduate or grandparent.

SPORTS NEWS:     The OLA Flag Football and Volleyball seasons continue. Games and practices continue each week. Check out the Athletics calendar tab on our website to view the entire game schedule.

Box Tops for Education Collection – Today was the collection day for November. Keep clipping those boxtops! All your student has to do is: (1) TRIM excess packaging, (2) CHECK that the product code and expiration date are legible, (3) ATTACH the Box Tops on the enclosed Collection Sheet...glue or clear tape only, please! (No staples.)  Thanks again for supporting our awesome school!
