Welcome to English Language Arts
Literacy for a Lifetime!
English Language Arts (ELA) is a combination of writing, grammar, literature, vocabulary, and public speaking. The study of literature helps students examine great ideas, pose ethical questions, and gain insight into humans and how they relate to others and the world. As these understandings develop, the students gain a greater understanding of themselves. Their personal voice begins to emerge. They learn to be clear and competent writers using specific vocabulary, accurate grammar, and stylistic techniques. Our students are encouraged to become life-long learners, confident, critical-thinkers with a love and appreciation of various forms of literature. With this solid foundation, our students develop their personal voice as a means to eventually transform themselves, their community, and the world.
