From the Desk of the Principal…March 21, 2023
Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Lent
Ezekiel 47:1-9, 12.
The mighty Lord is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge – Psalm 45(46):2-3, 5-6, 8-9.
John 5:1-3, 5-16.
Pray for a guide
Some of us carry heavy burdens of ill-health or grief for many years. As Christians we struggle with our image of God. Shouldn’t a good God free us from this burden as soon as we ask? Is not the mighty Lord our help and refuge? Have I done something wrong? Perhaps if we can find a small starting point of divine love, like uncovering the headwaters of a river, then we may slowly trace its increasing flow in our lives. Pray for an angel, a saint, a deceased loved one, to guide you along its course, to discover its increasing depth and power, and how it provides you with what you seek.
The virtue of temperance is about practice self-control it helps you control your actions, thoughts, and feelings . Our bodies need that gas that helps it grow and flourish like food, water , exercise and rest. Termerance help you balance what your body needs without have too much or too little of it. Like all the virtues, temperance must be learned through practice and patience. While it may not sound like much fun, the only real way to become temperate is through prayer and self-denial. In other words, you have to tell yourself no now and then.
Virtue for the Month of March is Temperance ~ Enjoying things in a proper balanced way.

Hot lunch is still going strong. Helpers are always needed to sort and distribute the hot lunches. Please arrive between 11:30 and 11:40. Lunch sorting is done by 12:10. Helpers will receive 1 parent hour for helping. Remember if you stay for lunch duty until 12:40 you receive 2 parent hours. That sounds like a win-win!!
During Lent our Student Council members will be leading the students in a few activities. Each week they will be teaching about the 3 pillars of Lent. First they will be spinning the “Fasting Pinwheel”. Ask your child what they are fasting from and also what they are replacing the item with. Each class does this as a whole. The Student Council is also leading each class in daily prayer that changes weekly as well as continuing Almsgiving by collecting money for those in need in Turkey, Syria and Ukraine.
Lost and Found-Please check the lost and found located outside the school office for missing items.
If your child will be absent from school, please complete the Absent Reporting form. This form can be found on our app under Documents or on our website under quick links. This will generate a report that is given to teachers daily. Thank you!

APA BOARD CORNER
The APA Board is excited to announce that the Invitations for our Cinco de Mayo Auction and Dinner Fundraiser are enclosed in today’s Family envelope.
This is our largest fundraiser of the year and an opportunity for us to gather together as a school community. We hope you will consider attending the Live Auction and Dinner event on the evening of May 5th at the Poinsettia Pavilion. We will have Classroom auction projects on display, a fun and exciting Live Auction, the drawing of our Raffle winners, and much more fun! Additional auction items will be featured in an online Silent Auction that will be held in the days prior to the Cinco de Mayo event, so friends, family, and parents who cannot attend the auction can still have a chance to bid on some fun items to support our school. Keep your eyes on the News Notes for information regarding the start of the Online Auction and how you can get in on the bidding fun.
If you have any questions about the Cinco de Mayo event or the APA Board, please contact Jennifer Bamieh at (805) 340-9168 or at email@example.com.
The APA Board looks forward to seeing and meeting many of you on May 5th!
