From the Desk of the Principal…May 23, 2023

Tuesday of the Seventh  Week of Eastertide

Acts 20:17-27. Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth – Psalm 67(68):10-11, 20-21. John 17:1-11.

May they be one, Father, as we are one

Una: Being one as you and God the father are one, Jesus, is a lovely ideal, but it’s not very realistic. Look around you: there are thousands of churches separated from one another. And within the Church people are always quarrelling about your way. If that’s what being one looks like, I would hate to see being divided.

Jesus: You are right, of course, Una. That is why I prayed that you would be one. It’s not something to take for granted but a gift to be prayed for and treasured. It begins with joy at being one with me and with God our father. That leads to listening to one another and to act as a community of friends.

Una: Thanks, Jesus. You mean we should stay in the tent. What about the people and churches outside, though? Should we give up on them?

Jesus: No, Una. The Father and I are also with them and with everyone. It’s up to you to show them

DILIGENCE: A STRONG KEY TO CAREER SUCCESS

Virtue for the Month of May is ~ Diligence

Doing your best and working hard until you are finished.

In Christianity, diligence is the effort to do one's part while keeping faith and reliance in God. In other words, diligence and faith are two sides of a mystery. One does not know how, despite one's effort, it all works out; but diligence, when combined with faith, assures spiritual success.

Our Saints this month:

Grade PK- 2: St. Andre Bessette “ Put yourself in God’s hands; He abandons no one.”

Grade 3 - 5: St. Francis de Sales “Have patience with all things, But, first of all with yourself.”

Grade 6-8: St. Catherine of Siena “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire”

We are a small but mighty group who helps to support our wonderful school by organizing fundraisers (and "fun"raisers!!) and we would love to have your help!

We meet one evening per month, generally the second Tuesday of the month, at school for about 2 hours, starting at 6:30pm.

Some of our activities include:

  • Setting up and Supporting Room Parents;

  • Organizing Teacher Appreciation Week, Grandparents' Day, Restaurant Fundraisers and more

  • Planning our Fall Fundraiser (in the past this has been Movie Night, the Cornhole Tournament & Harvest Family Picnic, the former Fall Festival, as well as the Fall Raffle associated with this fundraiser)

  • Planning and Executing our largest fundraiser of the year, the Spring Auction and Raffle - this year we had a Cinco de Mayo themed event at Poinsettia Pavilion

  • Father/Daughter and Mother/Son activities

We have Board Positions that will need to be filled but we also appreciate any and all parents who attend meetings to give input and help us out with some of our activities. Our final meeting of the year will be June 6th at the Pierpont Racquet Club, time to be announced. We'd love to see some new faces there!
