Mission Statement: Our Lady of the Assumption School Commits itself to provide an education based on catholic values and academic excellence in a caring and safe atmosphere in  partnership with the family and parish  community.

From the Desk of the Principal…September 24, 2025

Dear OLA Families,

A big thank you to our Student Council for making our new students feel welcome with fun and engaging activities—it’s wonderful to see our community in action!

Last week, Fr. Daniel hosted an inspiring assembly for our students. He shared a cartoon that he not only wrote and animated, but also voiced some of the characters himself. Through this creative presentation, he helped our students reflect on the difference between needs and wants—a message that truly resonated with them.

Raffle tickets also went home last week. We are so grateful for your continued support in selling these tickets. Your efforts directly support the programs that enrich our students’ experience and help ensure the continued operational vitality of our school.

Week 25th  in Ordinary Time

📖 Ezra 9:5-9. Blessed be God who lives forever – Tobit 13:2, 4, 6-8. Luke 9:1-6.
A generous understanding of generosity

Take nothing with you’, Jesus tells the disciples when he sends them out in today’s reading. They’re to proclaim the kingdom and heal the sick, and then rely on the generosity of those they meet.

It’s not easy for us to think about relying on the generosity of others in today’s world. We’re taught to see the world in terms of ‘lifters and leaners’ – those who work and make things happen, and the indolent who rely on handouts. Of course, that ‘economic’ view of humanity doesn’t adequately capture the complexity of our lives and our relationships to each other. Just because someone is reliant on government support doesn’t mean they’re not generously giving of themselves – through care, through relationships and in other ways.

In God’s world, we survive through each other’s generosity. It’s worth considering how we might better embody that in our society today.

Virtue of the Month

Hope is a gift from God by which we trust in Jesus Christ—that He will keep His promises and help us through the difficulties of our journey to Heaven.

Hope responds to the deep desire for happiness which God has placed in every human heart. It is not just optimism, but something much greater. As Scripture reminds us: “Hope does not disappoint.” (Romans 5:5)
