From the Desk of the Principal…October 14th, 2025
Dear OLA Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and joy-filled long weekend with loved ones. Thank you once again for your wonderful support in selling raffle tickets and helping make OLA such a vibrant place for our students to learn, grow, and shine in faith. Our Dolphins were thrilled to welcome the Pumpkin Trolley to campus—what a fun and festive day! And the excitement continues as classes have another chance to earn a Pumpkin Trolley visit this week!
As we celebrate the feast of St. Callistus I, may we be reminded of his example of mercy, forgiveness, and steadfast faith.
Prayer:
Loving God, through the intercession of St. Callistus, help us to lead with compassion and to see the goodness in all those we serve.
Strengthen our hearts to forgive, guide our words in kindness,
and bless our school community with peace and unity. Amen.
Week 28th in Ordinary Time
🛐St Callistus I
Romans 1:16-25. The heavens proclaim the glory of God – Ps 18(19):2-5. Luke 11:37-41.
Be open to change
The reading today is challenging. Contemplate it on a personal level. We are all Pharisees. Our human nature and our society encourage us to present a tailored image. Our exterior is a veneer used to hide our flaws. The truth is that it's transparent, opaque at best. Our dirtiness and our sin are not hidden at all. We fool only ourselves.
So today, consider the Gospel on a personal level and be open to change. Sharing your weakness and brokenness, embracing the truth and shedding all that holds you back and limits your wholeness is life giving. Strip away all that hinders your relationship with God. Have faith.

Virtue of the Month Flyer
📚Virtue of the Month: Studiousness
Seeking knowledge to grow closer to truth
Each of us has a natural desire for knowledge. Study is the keen application of the mind to truth. It is the way we feed our God-given hunger for understanding. Because this desire is placed within us by God, study is not only valuable—it is part of our lifelong search for happiness.
Unless we apply our minds to truth, we will never be truly happy. The goal of study is contemplation, a holy practice in which we yearn for and participate in the happiness that is God Himself. Even our earthly contemplation is a step toward eternal union with Him.
This month, our classrooms will walk with saints who modeled studiousness:
St. Albert the Great (TK–2): A brilliant teacher who loved both science and theology, reminding us that all knowledge points back to God.
St. Thomas Aquinas (Grades 3–5): One of the Church’s greatest thinkers, who showed that faith and reason work together to lead us to truth.
St. Edith Stein (Grades 6–8): A philosopher who sought truth all her life, ultimately finding it in Christ and giving her life for Him.
As we learn from these saints, may we also grow in the virtue of studiousness—seeking truth with open hearts and minds.
Prayer:
Lord, You are the source of all truth. Bless our studies this month so that, like the saints, we may use our minds and hearts to draw closer to You. May our love of learning lead us always to a deeper love of You. Amen.
