OLA School Motto: "Anchored in Faith, We Learn, Serve, and Shine."
Mission Statement ~ Our Lady of the Assumption School commits itself to provide an education based on catholic values and academic excellence in a caring and safe atmosphere in partnership with the family and parish community.
From the Desk of the Principal......January 21, 2025
Welcome back! I hope all of our families enjoyed a restful and meaningful MLK Weekend, taking time to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of service, justice, and love for one another. As we return to school, we do so with renewed purpose and gratitude for our shared mission as a Catholic school community.
We are especially excited as we look ahead to Catholic Schools Week, which begins next week. This is a joyful time for us to celebrate the many blessings of Catholic education—our faith-filled learning environment, our dedicated teachers and staff, our supportive families, and, most importantly, our wonderful students. Throughout the week, we will honor who we are, what we do, and the values that guide us each day.
Today, we also celebrate the feast of St. Agnes, a young saint whose courage and faith continue to inspire us. We admire the simple wisdom of St. Agnes, who reminds us that there are moments in life when compromise and moral ambiguity simply will not do. Her life encourages us to stand firm in our faith and values, even when it is difficult. As a school community, we pray for the strength and courage to live up to such moments when they arise.
We look forward to a meaningful and joyful week ahead as we prepare to celebrate Catholic Schools Week together.

Complexities of life
Jesus specialized in difficult questions. They had a paralyzing effect on people with more rigid minds who were trying to catch him out on a legalism.
I once overheard two men talking as they came out of Sunday Mass: ‘I hate it when they thank you for coming to Mass, when they know we will go to hell if we don’t.’ For people at Stage 3 of Kohlberg’s stages of moral development, keeping rules is the way to feel safe. Vatican II tried to open minds and hearts to the complexities of human life and moral questions. Pope Francis used synodality to help us listen to and learn from each other and be open to the workings of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus kept showing people that love was preeminent. Healing a man’s withered hand was a response to human need that came before keeping the law. There are so many ways we can respond as Jesus did.

Virtue of the Month: Fidelity
Fidelity - Being faithful to promises and commitments
During the month of January, we focus on the virtue of Fidelity—remaining faithful to God, to our commitments, and to one another in both joyful and challenging moments. Fidelity calls us to live with integrity, to keep our promises, and to trust in God’s plan for our lives.
As we grow in this virtue, we are reminded that faithfulness is not only shown in great acts, but also in the small, daily choices to love, serve, and persevere.
To help our students grow in this virtue, each grade group will walk with a special saint whose life beautifully reflects faithfulness.

Saint Focus by Grade Level
Grades TK–2: St. Cecilia
Our youngest students will learn from St. Cecilia, who loved God with great joy. She teaches us that being faithful means praying, singing God’s praises, and choosing kindness and obedience each day. Like St. Cecilia, our youngest learners are encouraged to show their love for God through joyful hearts and gentle actions.
Grades 3–5: Blessed Luigi and Maria Beltrame Quattrocchi
Students in grades 3–5 will walk with Blessed Luigi and Maria Beltrame Quattrocchi, a married couple who lived fidelity through their love for God and their family. Their lives remind students that faithfulness is shown by helping at home, being responsible, and caring for others. Through their example, students learn that living faithfully means loving God and serving others in everyday life.
Grades 6–8: St. Gianna Beretta Molla
Our middle school students will be inspired by St. Gianna Beretta Molla, a wife, mother, and physician who lived fidelity with courage and deep faith. St. Gianna teaches our older students that being faithful means standing up for what is right, respecting life, and trusting God even when faced with difficult choices. Her life encourages students to live with integrity, compassion, and commitment.
May these saints guide our students as they grow in fidelity, strengthening their relationship with God and one another throughout the month of January.
