From the Desk of the Principal......February 24, 2026

We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. Our teachers were grateful for the opportunity to attend the Religious Education Congress, where they participated in inspiring workshops, prayer, and fellowship. They returned energized and filled with wonderful ideas to enrich our classrooms and continue strengthening the faith life of our school.

This year was especially meaningful, as it was the first time Religious Education Congress welcomed our Middle School students. What a rich and powerful experience it was for them to worship and learn about their faith alongside other middle school students from across the Archdiocese. Gathering with such a large community of young Catholics was both inspiring and affirming, reminding our students that they are part of something much bigger—the living Church.

As we now enter the first week of Lent, we begin this sacred season with renewed hearts. Lent invites us into a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—a time to reflect, reset, and draw closer to Christ. During these forty days, we encourage our students to think intentionally about small sacrifices they can offer, ways they can serve others, and how they can grow in kindness and faith.

May this first week of Lent be a gentle beginning—a time to pause, pray, and prepare our hearts more fully for the joy of Easter.

Tuesday Week 1  of Lent

God’s Creation and His Faithful Word

Isaiah 55:10–11 | Psalm 34 | Matthew 6:7–15

This week’s readings remind us of the power and faithfulness of God. In Isaiah, we hear that just as rain and snow nourish the earth and make it fruitful, so too does God’s Word accomplish what He intends. God’s promises are never empty—they bring life, growth, and hope.

Throughout history, the Jewish people held a remarkable understanding of creation. While many ancient cultures believed that the sun, moon, and stars were divine, or that the universe had always existed, the Jewish faith proclaimed something very different: one all-powerful God who created the universe with intention and purpose. Creation was not random, nor was it divine itself—it was lovingly designed by God for human flourishing.

In recent times, scientific discovery has deepened our sense of wonder. We now understand that the universe had a beginning, and that its laws are finely tuned in ways that allow life to exist. Far from diminishing faith, these discoveries can strengthen it, pointing us toward awe and gratitude for the Creator who set all things in motion.

In the Gospel, Jesus teaches us how to pray, reminding us to trust in our Father who knows what we need. As we reflect on the beauty and order of creation, we are invited to respond as Jesus taught us: “Hallowed be Thy name.” May we grow in reverence for God’s power, gratitude for His creation, and trust in His faithful Word.

Cheerfulness is the friend and helper of all good graces with a boy with hands raisedVirtue of the Month: Cheerfulness

Cheerfulness – Choosing joy and a positive spirit, even in difficult moments

Our virtue for this month is Cheerfulness, a joyful disposition rooted in faith and trust in God. True cheerfulness is more than simply being happy—it is a choice to bring light, kindness, and hope to others, even when circumstances are challenging. As Catholics, we are called to reflect the joy of Christ in our words, actions, and attitudes. When we practice cheerfulness, we become living witnesses of God’s love in our school community and beyond.

Throughout the month, students will learn about saints who lived this virtue in remarkable ways, showing us that joy can be a powerful expression of faith.

Communion of Saints Tapastry

Saints of the Month by Grade Level

This month, our students will focus on the virtue of Cheerfulness, learning that joy is a gift from God meant to be shared. Cheerfulness helps us show kindness, spread hope, and reflect God’s love in our words and actions—especially when things don’t go our way.

St. John Bosco (PK–Grade 2)

St. John Bosco loved children and believed that learning should be filled with joy, laughter, and kindness. He helped children feel safe, valued, and loved, always encouraging them with a cheerful heart. Students will learn that being cheerful—smiling, sharing, and being kind—helps make school a happy place for everyone.

St. Philip Neri (Grades 3–5)

St. Philip Neri is known as the Saint of Joy. He believed that cheerfulness helps us grow closer to God and to one another. He used humor, kindness, and joy to teach others about God’s love. Students will learn that choosing a cheerful attitude, even during challenges, can bring light and happiness to those around them.

Blessed Miguel Pro (Grades 6–8)

Blessed Miguel Pro showed true cheerfulness during very difficult times. Even when practicing his faith was dangerous, he trusted God and remained joyful and courageous. Middle school students will reflect on how cheerfulness can be a sign of strong faith—choosing hope, courage, and joy even when life is hard.
