From the Desk of the Principal~ April 14, 2026
We would like to begin by recognizing the tremendous work of our APA Board in planning, organizing, and bringing to life our Annual Auction & Dinner. Their dedication, time, and leadership made this event truly special for our entire community. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to OLA!
What a wonderful time we had at our Annual Auction & Dinner! It was so special to see our community come together, enjoying the evening and supporting our school with such generosity and spirit. Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and helped make the event a success—we are truly grateful!
This morning, our 6th grade students set off for Outdoor School, where they will have the opportunity to learn, explore, and build lasting friendships. We keep them in our prayers for a safe, enriching, and memorable experience.
We are also proud to share exciting news from the Missionary Childhood Association Christmas Artwork Contest for the 2025–2026 school year. Our school has one local finalist—Samara Rodriguez (2nd Grade). Her artwork will go on to represent the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at the national level of the competition.
We will keep you informed if any local finalists are named national winners among the more than 10,000 entries received by the National Office.
Congratulations, Samara! We are so proud of you! 🎨✨

Today’s Readings & St. Peter Chanel
Acts 11:19–26
Psalm 86 (87): “All you nations, praise the Lord.”
John 10:22–30
Today’s readings center on the comforting and powerful image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. In the Gospel, Jesus reminds us that we belong to Him, just as He belongs to the Father. This deep sense of belonging offers us peace, protection, and guidance. As His sheep, we are known, loved, and held securely in His care.
In a world that can sometimes feel uncertain, we are reminded that Christ is our safe shelter—the gentle hand that leads us, protects us, and calls us by name. We are invited to listen for His voice and to trust in His loving care.
We also see in the early Church how the community in Antioch became a place of belonging, where followers of Jesus were first called Christians. Like them, we are called to build communities rooted in faith, love, and welcome.
🌿 St. Peter Chanel – A Missionary Shepherd
Today we remember St. Peter Chanel, a priest and missionary whose life beautifully reflects the image of the loving shepherd. As a young boy in France, he worked as a shepherd, and later answered God’s call to serve as a priest and missionary.
Driven by his deep love for Jesus, Mary, and the people he served, St. Peter Chanel traveled to the South Pacific to share the Gospel. His kindness, patience, and unwavering faith touched many lives, even in the face of great challenges.
St. Peter Chanel reminds us that:
We are called to care for others with gentleness and love
True leadership is rooted in service
Sharing our faith is an act of love
May today’s readings and the example of St. Peter Chanel inspire us to listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd and to be instruments of His love in our school and community.
