From the Desk of the Principal~ May 12, 2026

Dear OLA Families,

This past Saturday, our 2nd grade students received their First Holy Communion, a beautiful and sacred milestone in their faith journey. It was a joyful celebration for our students, their families, and our entire parish community.

On Monday, we continued the celebration as a school by joining them for the 8:00 AM Mass, honoring this special moment together in prayer and thanksgiving.

We are so proud of our students and pray that they continue to grow in their love for the Eucharist and their relationship with Christ.

Please continue to keep them in your prayers as they take this important step in their faith.

Today’s Readings – Love in Action

Acts 16:22–34
Psalm 137 (138): “Your right hand has saved me, O Lord.”
John 16:5–11

Today’s readings offer a powerful witness to love in action. In the Acts of the Apostles, we see Paul and Silas imprisoned, suffering, and given an unexpected chance to escape when an earthquake opens the jail. Yet instead of fleeing, they choose compassion. They remain, recognizing that their escape would bring great harm to the jailer.

Moved by their witness, the jailer experiences a profound conversion. His newfound faith is immediately lived out through acts of care—he tends to their wounds, welcomes them into his home, and provides for them. In this moment, fear and despair are transformed into hope, faith, and love.

This story reminds us that true faith is not only something we believe—it is something we live. Acts of kindness, compassion, and mercy have the power to transform hearts, beginning with our own.

Today, we are invited to reflect:

  • How do I show love through my actions?

  • Am I attentive to the needs of others, even in difficult situations?

  • Do my choices reflect Christ’s compassion and mercy?

🌿 Saints of the Day: Sts. Nereus & Achilleus and St. Pancras

Today we also remember Sts. Nereus and Achilleus, early Christian martyrs who remained faithful to Christ even in the face of persecution, and St. Pancras, a young martyr who courageously professed his faith.

Their lives, like that of Paul and Silas, remind us that faith requires courage, trust, and a willingness to live out God’s love in all circumstances.

Lord, give us hearts filled with faith, love, and joy, so that we may reflect Your compassion in all we do. Amen.
