St. Philip Neri – Today’s Reflection

1 Peter 1:10–16
Psalm 97 (98): “The Lord has made known his salvation.”
Mark 10:28–31

Today’s Gospel reminds us that following Jesus is not always easy, but it is always worthwhile. Peter speaks honestly to Jesus, saying, “We have left everything and followed you.” In response, Jesus reassures His disciples that sacrifices made for the sake of the Gospel will never go unnoticed by God.

At the same time, Jesus reminds them that discipleship is not about status or reward. It is about trust, humility, and faithfully walking with Him each day—even through challenges and uncertainty.

Like the disciples, we may sometimes wonder:

  • Am I truly following Jesus with my whole heart?

  • Am I seeking recognition, or simply trying to love and serve faithfully?

  • Do I trust God even when the path is difficult?

Jesus meets us honestly in these questions. He does not expect perfection, but He continually invites us closer, reminding us that He came to call and guide each one of us.

🌿 St. Philip Neri – The Saint of Joy

Today we also celebrate St. Philip Neri, known as the “Apostle of Rome.” St. Philip was known for his joyful spirit, kindness, humility, and deep love for God. He believed that holiness and joy go hand in hand and encouraged people to grow closer to Christ through prayer, laughter, and acts of charity.

St. Philip reminds us that:

  • Joy is a powerful witness to our faith

  • Holiness can be lived in ordinary daily life

  • Humility and kindness bring people closer to God

His cheerful spirit continues to inspire us to live our faith with openness, compassion, and joy.

✝️ St. Philip Neri, pray for us!
